Introducing Sam Hall
We warmly welcome Sam Hall to the Carmel community as our new Year 5.2 teacher! Sam says he was drawn to AVѧԺ for its strong commitment to academic excellence and holistic education.
“AVѧԺ emphasises both rigorous academics and the development of students' character and values. It provides a supportive environment for educators passionate about making a difference in students' lives and helping them achieve their full potential,” said Sam.
Sam has felt incredibly welcomed at Carmel and is looking forward to a very exciting November when he will be getting married! Here are some more interesting facts about Sam.
How has your first term been so far?
I have loved my first term at Carmel, I have learnt an incredible amount from the whole community. Each person has been so accommodating and willing to explain all of the nuances of Carmel. It has made me feel so welcomed.
What’s the best trip you’ve ever been on?
In 2016 I ventured to travel as much of the world as I could. I managed to travel for 11 months nonstop, visiting most of Europe, Central and South America and I met a huge range of people and cultures. Definitely as highlight was trekking for five days to Machu Pichu in Peru!
What are your favourite hobbies/interests outside school time?
I love being outside and in nature as much as I can. However, surfing seems to take up most of my time these days.
What’s one amazing thing about you that we wouldn’t have found out from your CV?
I am an advanced SCUBA diver. Rottnest or the South-West is where you will find me searching the ocean floor. I think I spend more time in or on the water than on land!
What’s the most recent book you’ve enjoyed?
‘Outlive, the science and art of longevity’ by Dr Peter Attia. The book talks about how to live better and longer! I’m hoping I’ll break the oldest person world record.
