Our fees commitment is that families will receive high value for money and as such, we set our fees to be as economical as possible, while still maintaining a high standard of Jewish education. Fees are set at the medium range, when compared with other independent schools, and cover tuition, most excursions and most co-curricular activities. For a full listing of our tuition fees per annum, please contact us at shalom@carmel.wa.edu.au.

It is advantageous to get in touch with AVѧԺ early in the decision-making process about schooling options for your family. Once you have connected with the school, through an enquiry, a tour or by submitting an enrolment form, we can keep you informed on activities and events at the school, meaning you will be more familiar with our school community and better prepared for when the schooling years commence. Starting at a new Primary or High School can be a daunting process for students, but by starting a relationship early, the transition can be smoother. Enrolling early also allows for us to appropriately plan resources for our students.

In certain circumstances, limited and conditional assistance with tuition fees may be available to enable children who are Halachically Jewish to enrol at AVѧԺ. Applications for fee assistance are handled in a confidential and sensitive manner. All enquiries should be directed to the Finance Office via email.

There are currently just under 420 students across the school, enrolled in years K-12.

Year groups at Carmel range from approximately 30-50, with each year level having two streams. Some classes in the High School will be smaller, depending on subject selections of the students (for example, not all Year 12 students will choose the same WACE subjects, resulting in smaller class sizes). Smaller class sizes, does not mean less opportunities. Smaller class sizes allow teachers to give the students more opportunities to ask the questions they need answered.

The timetables for the Primary School and High School are slightly different. In the Primary School, students can be dropped off from 8.10am and the day starts at 8.30am. The day finishes at 3.15pm. Kindergarten students can choose to enrol in full or half days. For more information on the Kindy enrolment options please email shalom@carmel.wa.edu.au.

In the High School, the day commences at 8.00am with Dovening and then Mentor period, with the first class commencing at 8.50am. Classes conclude at 3.15pm.

We are a Jewish School, however it is not essential that families who enrol at the school are Jewish. We welcome enrolments from families with a broad range of backgrounds, but we do expect students to be involved in all aspects of the learning and extra-curricular opportunities at the school, which includes a number of Jewish celebrations and the teaching of Hebrew and Jewish Studies.

We have a small number of students at the school who are not Jewish and they are attracted to Carmel for many reasons, including its size, the high-quality of teaching and the results of our students, and the community feel of our school. Around half of our 80 staff are Jewish.

The School utilises The Hangout for outside-of-school-hours care as they offer families the options of before and after-school care, as well as holiday care.

The Hangout operates from the Herb Graham Recreation Centre in Mirrabooka and can be contacted via email renee@thehangout.com.au or by telephone on 0404 385 162.

There is also a range of supervised clubs that Primary and High School students can join free of charge, some of which meet after school. These clubs cover interests as broad as chess, Israeli dancing, yoga, Jump Jam, study and gardening.

We invite all prospective families to book a tour of our Schools to assist with deciding on the best school for your needs. You can book a tour by calling the school, emailing shalom@carmel.wa.edu.au or completing our online form.

There is currently no cost to apply to enrol your child at AVѧԺ, if you do so by the end of August in the year prior to commencement. Late enrolments may attract a fee. Enrolments are welcome at any time, however we do recommend that families apply to enrol well in advance of commencement, to allow for planning and to give time for you to familiarise yourself with our special school community.
