The Environmentally Concerned Organization of Students (ECOS) at AVѧԺ supports and promotes environmental advocacy, sustainability, stewardship and education. ECOStudents pursue local, state, national, and global issues that affect the environment, directly or indirectly.

ECOS strives to make positive changes happen on campus and in the community. ECOStudents attend conferences, take field trips, handle restoration projects, volunteer with local non-profits, care for a student garden and much more. Each spring semester, ECOStudents organize the Earth Day celebrations on campus. .

What is Mythopoetics? Mythopoetics is a term, coined by poet Gary Snyder, meaning the strategic use of literature to change the narrative of a culture. In short, changing the world with words. Our club celebrates creative writing and literature, and edits and publishes the Sierra Journal.

Additionally, we invite artists, activists and scholars from the Native American community to speak at our campus.

The purpose of the AVѧԺ Physics and Engineering Club (S.C.P.E.C.) is to introduce the students to the concepts and the process of design and fabrication and to foster curiosity in students who may be otherwise intimidated by Physics and/or Engineering. This can be achieved through development and design of simple mechanical devices, through increased interaction between the club and the local communities of Sacramento, through the increased interaction between the Physics and Engineering club and societies, through increased interaction between the club and the faculty of the Physics and Engineering Departments, and most importantly, among club members. Through these interactions, we can increase the campus’ and community’s knowledge and awareness of both physics and engineering as a relevant, engaging, and familiar sciences, so that a more positive attitude concerning these disciplines remains. At the same time, our members can be exposed to a greater understanding of the various facilities, ideas, and opportunities of the S.C.P.E.C., campus, and surrounding community. Additionally, members of the club will be exposed to all the opportunities that the Physics and Engineering Departments offer to their students.

The Psychology Club welcomes everyone interested in psychology topics, and it is not required to be a psychology major to be in the club.
